Where to register your vehicle?
Vehicle registration is done at the motor vehicle department corresponding to the company’s registered address. This may be a county office, a city office with county rights, or a district office (in Warsaw). The office is determined based on the data entered in the KRS.

Step-by-step procedure

Document preparation
Gather the invoice or contract, KRS, registration certificate, and other required documents before submitting the application.

Submitting the application
The vehicle registration application is submitted at the motor vehicle department for the company’s registered office.
3.
Temporary plates
After submitting the documents, the office issues temporary plates and a temporary permit valid for 30 days.
4.
Receiving permanent registration
After completing the procedure, you receive the permanent registration certificate and permanent license plates.

How much does it cost to register a vehicle?
Registering a company vehicle involves several mandatory fees. For standard plates, the total cost is approximately 150 PLN. All rates are set by law and apply regardless of the registration location.

- Registration fee: 2 PLN

an online printout is sufficient.
License plates
if the vehicle was previously registered in Poland.
Customs clearance document and translations
if the vehicle was imported from outside the EU.
Excise tax proof
required for vehicles imported from the EU or outside the EU.
Power of attorney
if the application is submitted by someone outside the company’s board; stamp duty is 17 PLN.
After registration
What to do after registering the vehicle?
Registering the vehicle is not the end of the formalities. After receiving the documents, remember mandatory liability insurance (OC) and – for vehicles used in business – completing accounting obligations.
Key responsibilities:
- Take out OC insurance no later than the day of registration.
- Optional additional insurance, e.g., AC or GAP (commonly used in companies).
- Record the vehicle in the fixed assets register and account for depreciation.
- Determine VAT deduction rules depending on use (private / business-only).
